DESCRIPTION:First Annual Fremont Opera House Playwright Conference \nSaturday\, June 5\, 2021 | 1:00pm-5:00pm \nThe First Annual Fremont Opera House Playwright Conference started on March 15th when several amateur playwrights submitted their plays.  Three readers chose what they considered the best three plays.  On Saturday\, June 5th from 1-5 pm\, these three plays will have staged readings – actors in character read from the script with expression but limited movement\, no costumes\, sets or makeup.  The day of the staged readings\, there will be two professional writers on hand – Beaufield Berry from Omaha and Ehren Parks from Fremont.  After hearing each play\, they will give the author comments about their play.  At the end of the day\, one of these plays will be chosen to have the option to have an actual full performance at the Fremont Opera House. \nThe plays are: \n1:00pm – Puzzled Pieces by Em Cunningham \n2:00pm – Of Pearls and Swine by Barbara Dahlhauser & Mimi Bommarito \n3:30 pm – Chains by Christian Dames \nThe staged readings on Saturday June 5th from 1-5 will be open to the public.  There will be a $5 admission fee at the door.

DESCRIPTION:Paul Haar Saxophone Quartet \nSaturday\, October 19\, 2019 | 7:00pm \nPaul Haar\, a Fremont native\, and his protégées will play a variety of music. Haar is the Associate Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.  He has performed with a host of renowned jazz musicians including Grammy nominee Toshiko Akiyoshi and has backed such personalities as Lou Rawls\, Tony Bennett and Gladys Knight & the Temptations.  Part of the 2019-2020 Fremont Opera House Season.
